The Lakeshore Chinooks (21-10) bounced right back on Friday. They defeated the Eau Claire Express (14-16) by the final score of 9-4.

Right-hander Shaun Anderson (2-1), a University of Florida product, tossed six solid innings. He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits. Anderson also struck out five Express hitters.

The righty said the second game was a must win. ”We needed to capitalize on the first game and do better the second game,” Anderson said. “Our defense played well as a team, I had a lot of help from (center fielder) Luke Meeteer.”

With two outs in the second, Jack Zoellner got a base hit. He then scored on a wild pitch by Anderson. Eau Claire took a 1-0 lead.

The Express scored another run in the third. Center fielder Jeff Hendrix advanced to first on an error by Jake Noll (Florida Gulf Coast). Daniel Salters had an RBI single off Anderson that drove in Hendrix.

Lakeshore exploded for seven runs in the fourth. Right fielder Brett Siddall (Canisius) started off the comeback with a single. Ryan Krill (Michigan State) advanced on a base hit. Eau Claire starting pitcher Andy Davis then hit Michael Morman (Valparaiso).The Chinooks tied the game at two on a double by third baseman Brant Valach (Eastern Illinois).

Catcher Zack Bowers (Georgia) also had an RBI double that scored Krill. Valach came home on a Kyle Wood (Purdue) putout. Davis then surrendered back-to-back homers to Luke Meeteer (UW-Milwaukee) and Blake Butler (College of Charleston). Lakeshore had a 7-2 lead.

Siddall got his second hit of the game in the fifth. He scored on a wild pitch by Express reliever Justin Jaquish. Bowers collected his second RBI of the game by driving in Brant Valach on a single.

Fellow SEC hurler Connor Jones (Georgia) relieved Anderson in the seventh inning. The southpaw issued four walks. Despite giving up two runs on one hit, Jones struck out the side to end the game.

The Chinooks will travel to Madison on Saturday, June 28, before returning to Kapco Park to face the Mallards again on Sunday. They will also play the Kenosha Kingfish in a split-location doubleheader on Monday, June 30.
