The Lakeshore Chinooks woke up on Saturday morning expecting to travel to Kalamazoo for a two-game series against the Growlers. However, that will now not be the case. Due to flooding conditions in Kalamazoo, the games that were scheduled for Saturday and Sunday will be postponed.
The games will be made up on Friday, July 3rd, and Saturday, July 4th in Kalamazoo, when the two clubs were already scheduled to play. The teams will be playing two seven-inning doubleheaders, and both will be slated to start at 5:05 p.m.
For the Chinooks, the postponement gives a rare opportunity for players to rest. After only having one off day since the start of the season on May 26th, the team will now get three off days in a row thanks to the postponements and an already-scheduled off day on Monday, June 29th.
However, it will be bitter sweet as they will have to go into Kalamazoo to play four games in two days. There will be no respite after that, either, as the Chinooks do not have another off day from June 30th all the way until the all-star break, which begins on July 20th.
The Chinooks will be back in action on Tuesday as they battle the Kenosha Kingfish. The teams will square off at Kapco Park at 11:35 a.m., and then they will both travel down to Kenosha for their second game of the day, a 7:05 p.m. contest.
