Favorite Chinooks Promotion or Contest: The Minnow Race–especially when brothers race! In one instance, one boy pushed his brothers down at the word "Go" and won the race–too cute!

About their experience, Jean says: “We’ve had five players here the last three years and they were all wonderful. Getting to be part of their families was an unexpected bonus and we have maintained a special relationship with them all. The entire Chinooks organization has become part of our lives (attending an average of 30 baseball games per summer has added to that) and we’ve made lifelong friends with other host families. We’ve also loved getting to know the other players on the team. All are hardworking, polite young men that were a pleasure to have in our home.” And . . . “Some of our favorite memories are seeing Cody Bobbit hit a home run (his only that season) in front of his mom, dad, and grandma; having a picture taken with Robin Yount, hearing that Andrew Elliott had been drafted by Cleveland, watching Andrew Shaps eat an entire rack of lamb – as a midnight snack, enjoying sushi with Sam Burum, and getting to know and hearing the relief in the voices of the players’ moms like Lorna Barnes -knowing their boys were safe and happy.” |
