Grafton, WI – Chinooks starting pitcher, Marshall Kasowski (Houston) was recently named the 2016 Northwoods League Pitcher of the Year. The award is voted on by Northwoods League managers and members of the media. Kasowski was also named to the NWL Postseason All-Star team.
The right-handed pitcher from Conroe, Texas returned for a second season this summer with the Chinooks. Appearing in 12 games this season, 9 which were starts, Marshall ended the season with a 3-1 record and a 1.56 ERA (third lowest ERA in the league). In 63.1 innings pitched, Kasowski led the league in strikeouts with 87.
On July 12th against the Rockford Rivets, Marshall broke the Chinooks record for the most career strikeouts. On four different occasions, he posted double digits for strikeouts in a game: 6/23 vs. Kenosha, 6/30 vs. Madison, 7/22 vs. Wisconsin, and 7/28 vs. Wisconsin Rapids.
Marshall also participated in the 2016 Northwoods League All-Star Game in Kenosha where he pitched a scoreless inning.
