The Madison Mallards have signed four outfielders to join the 2002 squad. Jon Slack, & Madison Edwards, from Texas Tech; Tommy Eubanks, from McNeese State; & Kyle Anson from El Paso Community College will be roaming the Warner Park OF all summer.
Jon Slack and Madison Edwards are two of the three starting outfielders for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Slack, a junior, currently leads the Red Raiders with a .372 average, 72 hits, 45 walks and 25 stolen bases. Slack transferred from the Community College of Southern Nevada last season, where he was a first team all-region selection. Edwards is currently hitting .317 and leads the Red Raiders with 6 triples. Only a freshman, Edwards was drafted last season by the New York Yankees in the 25th round of the Amateur Draft.
Kyle Anson, a freshman, leads the Tejanos in numerous categories, including home runs, RBI?s and total bases. Anson is also among the junior college leaders in average with a stellar .432 clip. Tommy Eubanks, a junior, leads the entire Southland Conference in runs batted in with 62 and his 10 home runs are among the league leaders.

The Mallards 2002 season opens up with a pre-season game June 5th at 6:05 vs. the Wisconsin Woodchucks. The Mallards regular season home opener is Sat. June 8th at 7:05 with a huge fireworks show after the game. Season tickets are available at the Mallards office right now, and single game tickets go on sale Sat. May 18 at 10:00 at Warner Park.
