Hall of Fame pitcher Gaylord Perry will be in attendance at the Mallards game on Monday July 8, 2002. The Mallards play the Mankato Moon Dogs & it is Mounds Pet Food Warehouse’s “Dogs on the Mound” Night. All dogs that bring their owners will only have to pay half price admission to get them into the game.
The charismatic Perry pitched 22 seasons in the majors with several teams, including the Giants, Indians, Padres, Rangers, Mariners, Yankees, Braves, and Royals. Perry won two Cy Young Awards, becoming the first player to accomplish the feat in both leagues. He finished in the top 10 in ERA 11 times and strikeouts 12 times. Perry appeared in the All Star game five times and was inducted into Cooperstown in 1991.
