Latest roster addition is St. John?s Mike Rozema
The Madison Mallards have signed St. John?s University (New York) Junior shortstop Mike Rozema. Rozema, a 6?1? 180 lb left-handed hitter, was just named the Big East Conference Co-Player of the week. He is currently riding a fifteen game hitting streak & has been one of the hottest hitters in the country.
Rozema is currently hitting .438, & as of April 14th had the 11th highest batting average in the country. Rozema will help to anchor a strong Mallards infield that already includes Wisconsin natives Mike Rohde, from New Orleans University who was the 2002 state HS player of the year from Brookfield Central; David Hrncirik, form the University of Minnesota who attended Madison West HS; & Joe Thamen, from Notre Dame University. Prior to the start of the 2003 season Rozema was named Captain of the Red Storm Baseball team (the first time eighth-year Head Coach Ed Blankmeyer has chosen someone other than a senior). He just completed a six game stretch where he had at least two hits in each game & hit an astounding .696 (16-23).

Mallards new Head Coach Darrell Handelsman is excited about the addition of the shortstop from Fair Lawn, N.J.
?He is my type of player. He is aggressive, makes contact, and has been a team leader. He?ll be a lot of fun to watch this summer.? Handelsman said.
The Mallards home opener is Wednesday, June 11th at 7:05 vs. the St. Cloud River Bats. Mallards Season Tickets are currently available at the Mallards office for only $150 per seat, & single game tickets will go on sale in early May at The Duck Pond at Warner Park.
