Madison Native Matt Musser is latest acquisition
Former Madison High School Player of the Year Matt Musser has agreed to play for the Madison Mallards this summer. Musser is currently in his red-shirt season at the Air Force Academy. He will play for the Mallards until the last week of June when he will leave to fulfill a service academy commitment. Before transferring to the Air Force Academy, Musser played for one season at New Mexico Military Institute. In high school at Madison Memorial, Musser was named First-Team All-Conference and Third-Team All-State. Mallards new Head Coach Darrell Handelsman is excited to have Musser aboard for the first three weeks of the season.
?Matt is a good athlete and a solid defensive player that will give us some stability in the outfield,? Handelsman said. ?I saw him play last year at New Mexico and I was impressed. He will fill some holes for us early on and we are glad to welcome him back to Madison.?
The Mallards also named four mascots for the 2003 season on Sunday. After a successful and extensive tryout, Madison residents Jamie Kendall-Ward, Tim Bartelt and Eric Bjorling were selected as mascots for the upcoming season. Greg Werner of Waunakee was named mascot adviser. The Mallards would like to thank all of those who tried out and attended the 2003 Maynard G. Mallard tryouts.
The Mallards home opener is Wednesday, June 11th at 7:05 vs. the St. Cloud River Bats. Mallards Season Tickets are currently available at the Mallards office for only $150 per seat. Single game tickets are also now available at The Duck Pond at Warner Park.
