Maliszewski and Hansen Play College Ball in Iowa

Iowa?s Chris Maliszewski and Northern Iowa?s Jake Hansen have agreed to play for the Madison Mallards this summer. With the latest acquisitions, four of the 10 pitchers on the Mallards staff are left-handers.
Maliszewski is a 5?9?, 170-pound junior originally from Streamwood, Ill. In 12 appearances this season he is 1-4 with a 6.98 earned run average. In his three seasons at Iowa, Maliszewski has appeared in 38 games and has nine starts.
In his first collegiate season, Hansen is 2-1 with a 4.75 earned run average. The Council Bluffs, Iowa native has pitched 36 innings in 12 appearances. Hansen led the state in strikeouts in each of his final two years of high school. He had 378 strikeouts and a 0.36 earned run average in his final two seasons at Lewis Central High School.
The two left-handers are important additions according to new Head Coach Darrell Handelsman.
?Jake and Chris give us left-handed depth and the ability to possibly match-up late in games against quality left-handed hitters,? Handelsman said. ?Chris has pitched some big games in the Big Ten and his experience is going to be an asset to our rotation. Jake had a great high school career and I?m excited about the possibility of maybe having him around for a couple of years.?
The Mallards home opener is Wednesday, June 11th at 7:05 vs. the St. Cloud River Bats. Mallards Season Tickets are currently available at the Mallards office for only $150 per seat. Single game tickets are also now available at The Duck Pond at Warner Park.
