DULUTH, Minn. – Left-hander Jake Hansen continued his strong start to the season, allowing two hits in six shutout innings as the Madison Mallards blanked the Duluth Huskies 2-0 in a Northwoods League baseball game Monday night.
Shortstop Mike Rozema provided the offense for the Mallards, hitting a solo home run in the game watched by 823 fans at Wade Stadium.
Hansen (2-0), who just completed his freshman year at Northern Iowa, struck out five and walked four before relievers Cody Hall and D.J. Roshone finished up Madison’s first shutout of the season. Hansen has allowed just six hits in 11 scoreless innings this season.
The Mallards added four more stolen bases, making them 35-for-39 on stolen-base attempts on the season.
