James Boone came up big in the bottom of the ninth inning as he hit a two-run single to rally the Madison Mallards past the Duluth Huskies 3-2 Friday night in a Northwoods League game in front of 2,741 at Warner Park.
The Huskies walked in a run with the bases loaded prior to Boone’s line drive up the middle. The victory is the Mallards sixth straight, which ties the franchise winning streak record set in July of 2001.
Right-hander D.J. Roshone entered in the ninth and posted up his first victory of the season. Pitchers Tyler Jones and Chris Maliszewski combined for six strikeouts and no walks and allowed three hits apiece.
