The Madison Mallards snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory of the Wisconsin Woodchucks Monday night at the Duck Pond. Doug Beck hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Francois Larmore and break a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning. Right-hander Kyle Yates pitched one and two-thirds scoreless innings to pick up the win for the Mallards. Andy Sigerich started for Madison giving up only two runs in six innings of work. Shortstop Mike Rozema was three for four. Rozema now has a hit in 16 of the 20 games he has played in this season.
The Mallards improved to 13-8 on the year in front of a 2,822 fans. The first-place Rochester Honkers were rained out on Monday. Therefore, Madison is now only one game back in the Northwoods League South Division. The Mallards travel to Wausau tomorrow to take on the Woodchucks in the second game of a two game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. After the one game on the road, the Mallards will return home on Wednesday to host the St. Cloud Saints.
