THE DUCK POND ? It was a record-setting night once again at the Duck Pond as the Mallards charge for the first half title in the NWL South continued.

In Game 1 of a doubleheader versus the St. Cloud River Bats, the Mallards tied a franchise record by turning four double plays en route to a 6-3 victory. Devin Thomas made his first start in a Ducks uniform and picked up the win going five strong innings.

The night cap saw the Mallards fall behind in the first, but rally to cruise by the River Bats 5-1. The Mallards were wearing authentic 1993 Madison Muskies uniforms and St. Cloud was wearing replica Rox uniforms as the Mallards earned their first-ever doubleheader sweep.

?We just have to take care of our business now,? explained Mallards Manager Darrell Handelsman, ?we can?t control what Rochester does so we just need to go out and win.?

The Rochester Honkers swept a doubleheader from the Waterloo Bucks and are currently in first place in the division.

Tonight, the Mallards will welcome the Thunder Bay Border Cats for the first time ever. The Cats are currently in second place in the NWL North.

Also, tonight is Polka Night presented by the Essen Haus. There will be a live polka band performing live on the Great Dane Duck Blind before and after the game as part of the Duck Pond Concert Series presented by Luther?s Blues and Budweiser. Plus, the first 500 fans 16 and older will get a Mallards golf hat courtesy of Christmas Mountain Village in the Wisconsin Dells.

The gates open at 5:45pm with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.
