Jon Olson held the Thunder Bay Border Cats to one run in seven and a third innings to pick up the win for the Madison Mallards in the 4-1 victory. Shortstop Mike Rozema paced the Mallards offense with a pair of RBI. Center-fielder Kevin Sevigny was two for two with two runs and three stolen bases. Kyle Yates pitched one scoreless inning to pick up his second save of the season. Jimmy Brettl drops to 0-2 after picking up the loss for the Border Cats.
Although the Mallards picked up the win, they still drop in the standings after Rochester won a pair of games over Alexandria. The Honkers were scheduled to play three games today, but only completed two. At 16-9 the Mallards are two games out of first place in the Northwoods League South Division. Madison and Thunder Bay play the second game of the two games series Saturday, June 28th at the Duck Pond. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
