ALEXANDRIA, Minn. – The Madison Mallards shot out to a three-run lead, but watched their six-game winning streak came to an end with a 6-3 loss to the Alexandria Beetles in a Northwoods League game Tuesday night.
A two-run home run by Mallards’ Troy Harp in the third and a solo shot by Francois Larmore in the fourth quieted the 1,067 fans at Knute Nelson Stadium.
But Alexandria (14-15) got a run in the fourth and erupted for five runs in the sixth to pull away. Tom Wolf had three RBIs for the Beetles.
Mallards starter Devin Thomas allowed three runs in the Beetles’ big inning. Reliever D.J. Roshone entered and gave up two runs on three hits and two walks in one-third of an inning.
Madison fell to 19-10 and had its South Division lead cut to a half-game over Rochester, which beat Wisconsin 3-2.
