Tyler Bullock did it at the plate and on the mound as the Madison Mallards came back in the eighth inning to beat the Beetles. Trailing 6-2 to start the eighth inning, the Mallards scored five runs sparked by a three-run home run by Bullock. Josh Wettlaufer started the rally with a solo home run. Wettlaufer was two for four with a two RBI and a run scored on the night. Bullock pitched the top half of the eighth inning giving up one run on two hits for the win. Kyle Yates pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his fourth save of the season.
A crowd of 4,448 watched the Mallards improve to 23-10 on the season. The Mallards won 24 games during the entire 2002 season. Madison and Alexandria will play the second game of the two game series in a 3:35 p.m. matinee game at the Duck Pond on Sunday, July 6.
