Chris Nicoll pitched six scoreless innings and Dan Mocny and Joe Salas added RBI as the Alexandria Beetles shutout the Madison Mallards 2-0 Sunday at the Duck Pond. Right-hander Andy Sigerich made the start for the Mallards allowing two runs on five hits. Sigerich is now 3-1 on the season. The Alexandria pitching staff held the Mallards lineup to only four hits on the day.
With the loss, Madison falls to 23-11 on the season and 1-1 in the second half. The Mallards hit the road on Monday for a four game road trip. Two first half Division Champions square off Monday night as the Mallards travel to St. Cloud for a two game series. After a pair of games with the River Bats, the Mallards travel to Rochester. The Ducks return home on Friday, July 11 for a two game series with the La Crosse Loggers.
