ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Francois Larmore homered and drove in three runs and James Boone added three hits as the Madison Mallards clipped the St. Cloud River Bats 6-4 in a Northwoods League game watched by 2,097 Monday night at Dick Putz Field.

It was the 12th win in 15 games for the Mallards (24-11 overall, 2-1 second half), who took an early 4-0 lead in the battle between the league’s first-half division champions.

Right-hander Corey Cabral (4-2) picked up the win, allowing three runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and no walks in six innings. His ERA, which was the league’s third-best mark coming into the night, rose from 1.35 to 1.83.

Madison stole four bases, two by former Madison West athlete David Hrncirik, to push its league-high total to 105.

Kevin Gergel had a home run and three RBIs for the River Bats (18-16, 0-3), who lost their fifth straight game.
