THE DUCK POND – A three-run seventh inning proved too much to overcome as the Madison Mallards lost 6-3 to the Waterloo Bucks in front of a crowd of 4,383 Wednesday night at Warner Park.

It was the second straight loss for the Mallards, whose record fell to 6-8 in the second half of the Northwoods League season and 28-18 overall.

Waterloo broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh by scoring three runs off Mallards starter Jon Olson. Jeff Parrish drove home two of the Bucks runs.

Olson was charged with 6 runs in 6 2/3 innings. Doug Beck led the Mallards, going 3-for-5.

The Mallards will host the Bucks again tonight. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
