Starter Jon Olson pitched eight scoreless innings and Tyler Bullock knocked in a pair of runs to lead the Mallards to a 5-0 victory over the Waterloo Bucks. Tonight the 100,000th fan of the season walked through the gates of the Duck Pond as a crowd of 6,085 watched the Mallards improve to 9-10 in the second half and 31-20 overall. Bradley Langhum was the 100,000th fan and threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Duck Pond.
The crowd of 6,085 was the second largest crowd in franchise history and Northwoods League history. The Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets drew a crowd of 6,056 at Shea Stadium tonight.
With the win tonight Olson improves to 2-3 on the season. Left-hander Chris Maliszewski pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the game. After hitting the game-winning home run in the tenth inning last night, Bullock was two for three tonight with two RBI and a run scored. Bullock?s Baylor teammate Kevin Sevigny was one for four with and RBI.
The Mallards travel to Alexandria tomorrow for a two game series with the Beetles. The Ducks then return home for a four game home stand starting Thursday, July 31.
