THE DUCK POND – Brian Kroll struck out nine batters Friday night to lift the Madison Mallards to a 4-1 win over the Rochester Honkers in a Northwoods League amateur baseball game at Warner Park .

Kroll (4-4), a junior right-hander from Chico State (Calif.), did not allow a walk and pitched his third complete game .

Mike Rozema, who is a junior from St. John’s, finished 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI to pace the Mallards (33-22 overall, 11-12 second half). The Honkers are 33-22, 13-11.

** The Northwoods League ruled that Madison violated its 25-man roster limit Wednesday at Alexandria, and because of the violation, the team was forced to forfeit its victory.
