THE DUCK POND – When the Northwoods League playoffs open next Sunday, the Madison Mallards almost certainly will be facing the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

The teams offered an intriguing preview of the potential best-of-three series Sunday before 3,753 at Warner Park, with the Woodchucks prevailing 6-5 on an unearned run in the 12th inning.
