THE DUCK POND – Francois Larmore hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to lift the Madison Mallards to a 3-2 win over the Mankato Moon Dogs in a Northwoods League amateur baseball game Wednesday night at Warner Park.
A crowd of 6,452 – the second-largest in franchise, league and summer college baseball history – saw the Mallards win their third straight.
Chris Maliszewski picked up his second win of the season – and the week – for Madison with two scoreless innings in relief of starter Cody Hall. Larmore’s home run was off losing pitcher Ryan Hamilton.
Mike Rozema drove in the other run for the Mallards (36-25 overall, 14-15 second half), who play their final home game of the regular season tonight against the Moon Dogs (27-34, 12-17).
