Several members of upcoming 2004 Mallards continued their great collegiate seasons over the past weekend.

On Friday, Madison native, Ryan Zink, tossed a complete game shut-out helping the University of Illinois Chicago Flames pummel Chicago St. 19-0. In the Flames home opener Zink surrendered only 3 hits while striking out 8 and walking no batters. The win improved Zink?s record to 3-1 while lowering his ERA to 1.95. The freshman stand-out has also stuck out 36 men in his 7 appearances while issuing only 5 free passes.

Also having a stellar season thus far is St. Scholastica Junior, Jake Eiler. Eiler shared the UMAC Pitcher of the Week award after earning a victory at Bellevue. Eiler tossed a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts and surrendered only one walk. For the season, Eiler is 3-0 with a 1.11 ERA. In 19 innings he has struck out 27 and walked one.

Also making headlines this weekend was Corey Cabral. He picked up his fourth victory of season on Saturday with eight innings of work vs. University of Nevada. The San Jose St. ace, and 2003 Mallards all-star, struck out 11 hitters, while walking only two. The win improved his record to 4-3 on the season.

These and the rest of the 2004 Mallards will open the season on the road June 2nd against Wausau. Action at Warner Park will begin on June 9th at 7:05 against the Mankato Moon Dogs. Group tickets are now on sale at the ?Duck Pond? & at Mallardsbaseball.com.
