The Madison Mallards have inked three more players for the 2004 season. Utility man Darrell Sales, catcher John Martin, and pitcher Brandon Evans have all signed for the 2004 season.

Sales, a freshman at San Jose State University, has started 13 games this season, batting .261 with one home run and 11 RBIs. At Wilcox High School in Santa Clara, California, Sales was an All-State underclassman and an All-League selection. This summer Sales will join teammate and returning Mallard, Corey Cabral.

Also joining the Mallards this summer is Emporia State sophomore John Martin. This season Martin is batting .330 in 38 games. Martin has also hit three home runs and knocked in 18 RBIs. He is currently fourth on his team with 30 runs scored.

In addition to Sales and Martin, the Mallards have also signed southpaw Brandon Evans. A red-shirted freshman at the University of Nevada, Evans, has appeared in 14 games this season. Evans has stuck out 10 batters in 17.1 innings of work.

The latest additions bring the Mallards roster to twenty one players signed for the 2004 season, including ten returnees from the 2003 season.

The Mallards start action at the Duck Pond on June 9th at 7:05 PM against the Mankato MoonDogs. The Madison Mallards set a Summer Collegiate Baseball record for fans in 2003, averaging 4,421 per game and a registering a season total of 145,896.
