The 2004 season has started at the Duck Pond, but the Mallards have not yet filled their front office staff for 2004. In a search to find the final piece of their front office staff the Mallards have announced ?The Internship? presented by Life Style Staffing. Starting Thursday, June 10, contestants will compete for a $1,000 cash prize and a summer internship with the Mallards. During every night of the contest at least one participant will be fired by Mallards owner Steve Schmitt, local entrepreneur and owner of the Shoe Box and Rookies. The finals of ?The Internship? presented by Life Style Staffing will be held at the Duck Pond on Monday, June 21 when the Mallards take on the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
?We are looking for a candidate who exhibits the same amount of passion and desire as the members of our front office staff,? Mallards General Manager Vern Stenman said. ?We are going to put these candidates through a rigorous nine game process to find out who is going to be the next Bill Veeck.?
The contest is open to fans of all ages. To enter, fans must be in attendance on Thursday, June 10th when the Mallards take on the Mankato MoonDogs. Employees of Life Style Staffing will be on site screening potential candidates starting at 5:45 p.m. Life Style will choose 12 contestants to compete in a test of entrepreneurial ingenuity, cutting edge marketing ideas and efficient errand running ability. Potential interns will participate in a variety of ballpark activities including, washing fans cars, trying to sell souvenirs from 2001 and throwing on the Maynard G. Mallard mascot suit to entertain fans.
The Mallards are an equal opportunity employer and encourage fans of all ages to interview with Life Style Staffing for the contest.
