The Madison Mallards headed into the bottom of the eighth inning tied with the La Crosse Loggers, 3-3. From that point forward, the Loggers took control of the game.

La Crosse (8-5) plated 12 runs in the bottom of the eighth, all before registering an out. David Schultz and Travis Check both hit grand slams that inning, to help push the Mallards back to .500.

Mallards starter Ryan Zink left the game with a 3-2 lead after pitching six solid innings. The Madison native scattered seven hits and struck out four batters. Abe Aguirre gave the Mallards the lead in the fourth after lacing a three-run double down the left field line.

After that, it was all Loggers. La Crosse finished the game with 15 runs off 19 hits. The Mallards added three runs in the top of the ninth to make the final score 15-6.

The Mallards (7-7) will try to salvage a series split with the Loggers tonight in La Crosse. Tickets for all remaining Mallards home games are available both online at www.mallardsbaseball.com, and at our new office located at Warner Park.
