After starting the first half of the 2004 Northwoods League season 1-5, the Mallards have reversed their fortunes in the second half, jumping out of the gates with a 5-1 mark to start the second-half.

A combination of Wisconsin born pitchers held the MoonDogs in check, as Daryl Maday picked up his first win as a Mallard, surrendering only two runs in six and one third innings. The native Wisconsinite struck out six while walking only one. Shaun Corning, a Portage native, worked two and two thirds innings of perfect relief to earn his first save.

Mallard All-Star Greg Thomson went 2-5 with two RBIs and Abe Aguirre added a pair of RBIs as well to help the Mallards take two out of three from Mankato. Jeff Bieker also had two hits for the Ducks who are tied for first place in the South Division with the Waterloo Bucks.

The Mallards return home where they are 15-4 this season, to face the La Crosse Loggers in a two-game home set with the first game being played Sunday at 6:05 PM. Tickets for all remaining Mallards home games are available at our office and online, at www.mallardsbaseball.com.
