One day removed from coming up on the short end of a 1-0 decision, the Mallards paid back the Loggers, winning 2-1 Tuesday night at Warner Park. Four Mallard pitchers combined to give up only one run and three hits. Starting pitcher Jake Eiler was masterful, striking out 11 batters and walking none in six and one third innings. Eiler left the game with a 1-0 lead before Ricky Bauer gave up an RBI single to Phil Napolitan in the top of the seventh. Catcher Nate Trumm got Bauer off the hook in the bottom of the seventh, coming up with a clutch two out RBI single past a diving Mike Sirianni to put the Ducks on top for good, 2-1.

Matt Petty pitched a perfect eighth and D.J. Roshone sawed through the Loggers lineup in the ninth to earn his ninth save. All-Star third baseman Chad Frk knocked in the first Mallard run with a sacrifice fly scoring Jeff Bieker. Greg Thomson and Jay Johnson, both All-Star outfielders, went 3-4 and 2-2 respectively. In addition to his game winning single, Trumm had another single to go 2-3 on the evening.

The Mallards soar into the All-Star break in first place with a 6-2 mark, 24-15 overall. Thursday, July 22nd is the next time the Mallards will be in action at Warner Park.
