Over a week into the second-half of the season, the Madison Mallards are adding a pair of left-handed arms to their pitching staff. Both collegiate teammates of current Mallards, Mark Moriarty of St. Scholastica and Tony Korson of Florida Gulf Coast University are the most recent additions to the Mallards roster.

Moriarty, a college teammate of Mallard pitcher Jake Eiler, tied for the team lead in saves at St. Scholastica in 2004. Moriarty struck out 22 batters in 18.1 innings of work in 2004 for the Saints. The left-handed hurler also hit .333 in his first collegiate season.

In addition to Moriarty, the Mallards added Tony Korson, a collegiate teammate of Mallard pitcher Billy Phillips. In 2004 at Florida Gulf Coast University, Korson led his staff with a 1.39 ERA. Korson struck out 31 batters while walking only 11 in 32.1 innings of work.

The Mallards next home game is on Thursday, July 22nd at 7:05 PM, as the Mallards take on another division rival in the Waterloo Bucks. Tickets for all remaining Mallards home games are available online at www.mallardsbaseball.com and at our office located on 2920 N. Sherman Ave.
