Thanks to a 1-0 Mallards victory, and a two-out, two-run game winning single up the middle in the bottom of the ninth from the Alexandria Beetles, the Mallards now hold a two game lead over Waterloo for the South Division title. Mike Rohde provided the lone RBI for the Mallards with a double in the sixth inning to score Jay Johnson. The RBI also gave Ricky Bauer his team-leading sixth victory of the season.

Bauer allowed only four hits in six innings while striking out three and walking just two. Mark Moriarty, Cody Hall and Matt Petty each pitched an inning of scoreless relief to keep the River Bats at bay. Petty fanned the final batter with a 90 MPH fastball to earn his fifth save.

In addition to his RBI double, Rohde had another single to go 2-for-3 on the night. Greg Thomson, Doug Beck and Ryan Rogowski were the only other Mallards to record hits.

Tomorrow night the Ducks will try to add their division lead at 7:05 PM against the Rochester Honkers sending Ryan Zink to the mound. The next Mallards home game is game one of a doubleheader on August 4th at 1:05 PM. The Mallards organization suggests purchasing tickets for remaining home games ahead of time either online at www.mallardsbaseball.com, or at our office located at Warner Park.
