The Northwoods League Championship Series is now set. The Duluth Huskies will take on the Madison Mallards in a best of three series after the Huskies dispatched of the St. Cloud River Bats 3-1 Thursday night in St. Cloud, Minn., to win the Northern Championship two games to one. The Mallards held the Huskies in check during the regular season, winning three out of four games. Mallards pitching fooled Duluth all season, registering a team ERA of 1.29. The series begins Friday in Duluth at 7:05 PM before returning to Madison Saturday for game two and Sunday for game three if necessary. Jake Eiler, who plays college ball at St. Scholastica in Duluth, will take the mound for the Mallards in game one. After pitching game one, Eiler, who is studying medicine, will take his MCAT’s Saturday morning in Duluth. Saturday night the Mallards will send LaFollette grad, and Madison native Ryan Zink to the mound in Madison for game two.
