In game one of a doubleheader, the Madison Mallards came up just short, leaving the tying run in scoring position to drop a 3-2 decision to the Alexandria Beetles Saturday evening at Warner Park.

The Mallards managed only four hits throughout the game, while the Beetles scattered 13 en route to victory. Mike Creevy took the loss for the Mallards (6-3), as Tim Gudex surrendered the eventual game winning run in the top of the tenth after replacing Creevy.

Ryan Rogowski provided most of the offense for the Mallards, going two for four with the team?s only RBI as well as scoring one of the team?s two runs.

Game two of the doubleheader is set to begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. Rick Rivas is set to make his Mallards pitching debut against Rene LeBlanc for the Beetles (5-3). Results from game two will be provided following the conclusion of the seven inning contest.
