In an intrastate battle between the top two teams in the Northwoods League South Division, the Madison Mallards got an early lead, and starter Adam Mills was lights out for the Mallards, as they defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks 6-2 in front of 5,684 fans at the Duck Pond Sunday afternoon.

The victory propelled the Mallards (8-3) into a first place tie with the Woodchucks. Mills threw eight stellar innings, allowing no earned runs while scattering four hits and striking out four.

Danny Dressman made his Mallards debut and didn?t disappoint, going three for four with an RBI. Randy Molina and Ryan Rogowski each provided two hits and an RBI for the Mallards, who look to take over sole possession of first place Monday night at 7:05 p.m. at the Duck Pond.
