Mallards Remain Red-Hot, Sweep Eau Claire
The top of the Mallards order set the table Wednesday night in Eau Claire, as Ryan Rogowski and Kelly Sweppenhiser reached base five times in eight opportunities to help the Mallards (11-3) defeat the Eau Claire Express (7-7) 4-1 at Carson Park.
Rogowski extended his season long hit streak to 14 games, collecting two hits while scoring two runs and knocking in one. The Mallards speedster also added to his league-lead in stolen bases, swiping two to increase his total to 13. Sweppenhiser, coming off his grand slam Tuesday night, went 3-4 with a run scored and a RBI.
Mallards starter J.J. Hollenbeck improved his record to 3-0 on the season, striking out four hitters in five innings of work. Three Mallards relievers combined to keep the Express scoreless over the final four innings, with Matt Petty earning his third save of the season.
