Right-handed pitcher Erik Walker (UNC Charlotte) and left-hander Burke Baldwin (Kishwaukee College) were added to Madison?s pitching staff for the remainder of the 2005 season, the Mallards announced Saturday.

Walker joins the Mallards after a successful season at UNC Charlotte, where the Clemmons, NC-native led Conference USA with 12 saves, setting a school record for single season and career saves. Walker finished the 2005 collegiate season with a 4-2 record in 31 appearances, posting a 1.86 ERA while striking out 67. Opponents batted just .173 against the second-team Conference USA selection.

Baldwin comes to Madison after recording a 4-2 record to go along with a 2.90 ERA at Kishwaukee College. The Blue Island, IL-native threw 76 innings for Kishwaukee while striking out 72. The left-hander was drafted in the 24th round by the Chicago White Sox in the 2003 Amateur Draft, but elected to attend Kishwaukee instead.

The Mallards are back in action tonight as Madison takes on the Rochester Honkers in a battle for first place atop the Northwoods League South Division. The Mallards trail Rochester by one game heading into tonight?s contest. Madison has Sunday off before hitting the road for a three-game road trip.
