Entering the ninth with a three run lead, the Mallards all but had the victory secured over the River Bats Friday night in St. Cloud. But three River Bat runs in the bottom of the ninth made for an interesting finish in front of a sellout crowd of 2,291 at Dick Putz Field.

Mallards all-star Ryan Rogowski created the game?s winning run after singling in the top of the 11th inning. The league?s stolen base leader then swiped second and advanced to third after catcher Matt Marek?s throw sailed into center field. Randy Molina then singled to right, scoring Rogowski and giving the Mallards a 5-4 lead, which would not be relinquished.

Right-hander Erik Walker pitched a scoreless 11th to preserve the victory, helping improve the Mallards second-half record to 3-2, one game behind both Waterloo and Wisconsin.

Entering the sixth inning the game was knotted at one before Jordan Comadena scored on a sacrifice fly following his controversial triple. His hit appeared to be a home run off the second tier of advertising but was ruled a triple off the wall.

Mike Rohde added an RBI-triple in the seventh and scored on Kelly Sweppenhiser?s pinch-hit single.

The Mallards and River Bats are back in action Saturday night in St. Cloud at 7:05 p.m., sending right-hander Rick Rivas (2-2, 2.87) to the mound against Bats? lefty Ross Black (2-1, 2.64). The Mallards return home Friday, July 22nd to take on the La Crosse Loggers at 7:05 p.m. Great seats for all remaining Mallards home games, including playoffs, are available both online at www.mallardsbaseball.com, or by calling the Mallards office at 246.4277.
