Tuesday night was an evening of not-so-good firsts for the Mallards,with J.J. Hollenbeck losing his first game in a Mallard uniform, as the Express dropped the Mallards 4-2 earning the franchise?s first win over Madison.

Hollenbeck allowed all four Express runs, three of which were earned. The V.M.I. Junior did strike out six batters while walking only one.

Will Vogl provided most of the Mallards offense, blasting a solo home run in the seventh, his second of the season. Randy Molina knocked in the other Mallard run on a fielder?s choice in the top of the ninth inning.

With their second straight loss the Mallards dropped to 5-4 in the second-half. The Mallards will try to split the two-game series with the Express tomorrow night in Eau Claire.
