As if winning the first half of the Northwoods League South Division was not enough, the Mallards are playing some of their best baseball of the season, winning their seventh straight game and securing their lead over the rest of their division with a 4-2 win over Wisconsin Monday.

The victory marked the fourth straight win over the Woodchucks since the two teams were tied at 14-10 marks less than a week ago.

The Woodchucks defense struggled as Madison jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. Wisconsin responded with two of their own in the sixth, highlighted by a solo home run by Matt Nohelty.

But Jordan Comadena and Randy Molina came through with RBI-doubles in the eight inning to propel the Mallards to the 4-2 victory. The Mallards bullpen continued with another dominant performance, getting the Woodchucks to go down in order in the eight and ninth innings.

The Mallards return to action Tuesday against the Thunder Bay Border Cats. The Mallards return home Saturday, August 13 at 6:05 p.m. against the Wisconsin Woodchucks. For tickets visit www.mallardsbaseball.com or call the Mallards ticket office at 246-4277.
