Rogowski to Bleed Dodger Blue Following Northwoods League Season
Madison Mallard All-Star outfielder and University of Illinois senior Ryan Rogowski (Livonia, Mich.) will sign a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers following the completion of the 2005 Northwoods League season.
Rogowski starred in the Northwoods League all summer, leading the Madison Mallards in batting average (.355), runs (52), hits (86), stolen bases (43), triples (5), home runs (4), slugging percentage (.483) and on-base percentage (.428) through Aug. 12. Rogowski was also named to the league?s all-star team in 2004.
After being looked over in the 2005 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft in June, the summer season proved to be successful for the Mallards right fielder, setting a plethora of both Mallards and NWL records. He set the NWL career record for stolen bases on July 22 with his 61st career stolen base and is one away from breaking the NWL single-season record. The outfielder also set the single-season Mallards record for stolen bases and is at 43 and counting.
Rogowski was named first team All-Big Ten at Illinois in 2005 after hitting a team-leading .374 and stealing 31-of-36 bases.
The Mallards are back in action Saturday night against the Wisconsin Woodchucks at 6:05 p.m. Saturday is the first night of American Family Insurance Fan Appreciation Weekend. For tickets visit www.mallardsbaseball.com or call 246.4277.
