The Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League announce the team has added pitcher Jeff Wilkerson to its roster. Wilkerson will take the roster spot of outfielder Ryan Basham, who was waived after being drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Wilkerson, a 6’5″ right-hander, just completed his junior season at Dartmouth. He tied for second on the team with seven starts and three wins. His three complete games ranked him second on the club and he ranked fourth on the team in innings pitched with 44.1. He struck out 23 batters while walking only nine and also picked up a save.

Wilkerson finished second on the team in ERA as a sophomore with a 3.62 mark over 37.1 innings. Wilkerson was often a victim of poor run support, as the team scored just 11 runs in his five losses.

As a freshman, Wilkerson went 2-1 with one save in 12 games.

He will wear number 36 and will be in uniform tonight (6-9-06) as the Mallards travel to Brainerd, MN to face the Blue Thunder.

Basham hit .357 in four games with the Mallards this summer. He had a team best four RBI at the time he was placed on waivers. Basham is expected to sign a professional contract with the Toronto Blue Jays after being drafted by the team in the 29th round of the annual Major League Baseball Draft.

The Mallards return home June 16th to face the Duluth Huskies at Warner Park. Great seats are still available. Visit www.mallardsbaseball.com, call 608.246.4277 or stop by the Mallards Office at the Duck Pond for tickets or more information.
