Famous Footwear and the Madison Mallards are pleased to announce that outfielder Bobby Hubbard is the “Famous Footwear Mallards Player of the Week” for the week ending June 25.

Hubbard appeared in all six games during the week and led the Mallards with a .478 average for the week. He scored four runs and knocked in one.

“I always try to take the same approach to the plate. I don’t ever try to do too much,” Hubbard said. “It’s been working out for me lately.”

The North Carolina State student has been hitting, primarily, second in the batting order. It’s a spot he likes.

“It’s a fun spot to hit in the order because you get to do a lot of things: bunt guys over, hit behind them, get on base.”

The Mallards are starting to play better on the field. Hubbard has been a big reason.

“I’m having a ball,” he said. “Everybody’s getting along on the team. It’ll be better as soon as we completely turn this (the record) around.”

Each Sunday, the Mallards and Famous Footwear honor a current member of the Mallards as the “Famous Footwear Mallards Player of the Week.”
