The Madison Mallards will look to make it three straight tonight, July 1, when they take on the LaCrosse Loggers in game one of a two-game series. The action begins at 5:05 p.m. at the Duck Pond. Following the contest, both teams will pack up and head to Copeland Park in LaCrosse for game two of the home and home series.

The Ducks have won two in a row and three of their last four behind some solid pitching performances. They?ll look to continue that trend tonight when they send Jake Sullivan to the hill. In four starts already this summer, Sullivan (pictured below) is 2-1 with a sparkling 1.77 ERA. He has struck out 12 men and walked eight in 20-plus innings of work. He?ll face a Logger lineup led by current NWL home run leader Ben Barrone (six). In 26 games with the Loggers, Barrone is batting .302 with 20 RBI and 10 runs scored.

The Loggers will counter Sullivan with the 1-1 Jason Dominguez. Dominguez has appeared in four games this summer, posting a 1.62 ERA. In 16-plus inning of work, he has struck out 14 while walking just five. He also has one save to his credit.

Tonight fans can stay on after the game for the renowned Rhythm & Booms fireworks show. Check the news section of www.mallardsbaseball.com for carry-in policies and parking information. It?s also Meriter & PPIC Kick Ball Night. The first 1,000 fans 14 and under will receive kick balls courtesy of Meriter & PPIC.
