The Madison Mallards are pleased to announce the selection of five players to the 2006 Northwoods League South Division All-Star team. This year?s All-Star game is set to take place Wednesday, July 12, at Copeland Park in LaCrosse. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

The Mallards selected to this year?s All-Star team include, right-handed pitcher Mike Creevy from Xavier University, right-handed pitcher Brian Smith from Northern Illinois University, shortstop Ryan Bond from Indiana State University, outfielder Jordan Comadena from Purdue University and Bobby Hubbard from North Carolina State University.

In games thru July 7, 2006, Creevy is 4-0 with a 1.38 ERA. Of the 16 games in which he has appeared, he has finished 10 while picking up two saves. Creevy has also posted 28 strikeouts in 26 innings of work while walking just six.

Smith (pictured above left)has made six appearances this summer, starting all of them. In games thru July 7, 2006, he has posted a 2-2 record with 1.50 ERA. In 36 innings of work, Smith has struck out 18 and walked just five. He also has one complete game shutout to his credit.

Bond is batting .259 with 10 RBI in games thru July 7, 2006. He has also scored 14 times while drawing 11 walks.

Comadena (pictured below, # 14) has excelled out of the Mallards leadoff spot this summer, posting a .270 batting average with 14 RBI and 25 runs scored (thru 7/7/06). He?s smacked two home runs to go along with 15 walks. Comadena has also swiped a team-high seven bases.

Hubbard has spent the majority of the summer hitting out of the two-hole. Thru games of July 7, 2006, he is batting .275 with nine RBI and 15 runs scored. Hubbard also has two home runs on the season and has drawn a team-high 19 walks for an on-base percentage of .380. He also has a team-high five doubles.

Tonight, the Madison Mallards take on the Eau Claire Express in game two of the series at the Duck Pond. It will be Interstate Battery Hat Night. The first 1,000 fans 18 and over will receive Mallards hats courtesy of Interstate Battery. It will also be Alliant Energy Glow In The Dark Baseball Night. The first 1,000 fans 14 and under will receive glow in the dark baseballs courtesy of Alliant Energy. All fans are invited to stick around after the game for the Life Style Staffing fireworks show.
