Last night, the Madison Mallards didn?t look like a team that has battled offensive woes for the past two weeks. Instead, the Ducks made producing runs look old hat. The Mallards hope to continue that trend tonight, August 3, when they take on the Wisconsin Woodchucks in game two of a two-game series at the Duck Pond. Tonight?s first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

While the Mallards had averaged just two runs per game in their previous five games, last night saw the team bust loose for five runs on seven hits. Lefty Jake Sullivan is hoping for the same kind of support tonight when he takes the hill for the Ducks. In nine starts, Sullivan is 3-3 with a 1.84 ERA this summer. He has struck out 32 and walked 15 in 49 innings of work. In his last start, Sullivan worked five innings, allowing only one run on just four hits. That game took place on July 27, versus the same Wisconsin Woodchucks team.

Wisconsin will look for a different result when they send tough-luck Craig Brookes to the mound. Brookes has posted a respectable 3.49 ERA this summer but has garnered no run support from his offense, leading to his 2-7 record. In 67 innings pitched, Brookes has struck out 39 while walking 26. Brookes? last start also came back on July 27 versus Sullivan and the Mallards. In that game, Brookes pitched five shutout innings, allowing six hits and striking out five.

The Mallards (28-29 overall) currently trail La Crosse by just one game for the final playoff spot in the NWL?s South Division. The Loggers are also in action tonight versus the Eau Claire Express.

Tonight will be PDQ & Quench Trading Card Night #3, presented by WB57, at the Duck Pond. It will also be Ashley Furniture HomeStore Giveaway Night with great prizes from the Ashley Furniture HomeStore awarded throughout the game.
