The Madison Mallards are pleased to announce the signing of right-handed pitcher Jeff Zielke to a full contract. Zielke joined the team last night, August 2, for their game with the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

Zielke, a native of Watertown, Wis., just completed his freshman season at UW-Stevens Point in the spring. In his first season with the Pointers, he appeared in 14 games, starting once. In over 33 innings pitched, Zielke posted a 2-2 record with a 2.16 ERA. He struck out 34 while walking only nine.

As a high school senior, Zielke was named the Wisconsin Little Ten?s Conference Player of the Year as well as a First Team All-State selection as a pitcher. He was also named the Most Valuable Player of the 2005 class AAA state Legion tournament as a member the Watertown team that won the title.

To make room for Zielke, the Mallards deactivated left-handed pitcher Stephen Dodson.
