The Mallards are excited to announce five more players who have been signed for the 2007 season. All five of these players saw action at their respective schools last weekend. Highlighting the group is 2006 Northwoods League All-Star Bobby Hubbard, and Wisconsin native, Xavier infielder Adam Pasono. Below is a complete listing (in alphabetical order) of the next five players the Mallards have signed for the 2007 season.

Russell Harben, SS/3B, Sophomore, South Alabama. Harben led Milton High School (GA) to the 2004 State Title as a senior while hitting .350 with 5 home runs and 14 stolen bases. His season got off to an auspicious start Sunday as he was hit by two pitches in three at-bats against Mercer University. Harben is a transfer from Georgia Tech.

Bobby Hubbard, OF, Junior, Furman. Hubbard returns to the Mallards after leading the team with 38 walks and 10 doubles last summer. A transfer from N.C. State, he appears set to take over the starting third base job for Furman in 2007. Besides pitching and catching, Hubbard has played every position during his collegiate and summer baseball career.

Adam Pasono, IF/OF, Sophomore, Xavier. A DePere, WI native, Pasono finished second in batting average (.291) for Xavier in 2006. He had a career and team high three 3-hit games. Pasono?s father, Michael, played baseball at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In this past weekend?s three-game series against Winthrop, he had 3 hits and 2 RBI.

Jim Sajewich, RHP, Sophomore, Illinois State. Sajewich recorded a team-high 13 starts for the 2006 Redbirds while totaling 67.1 innings of work. He pitched for the Virginia Farquier Gators of the Clark C. Griffith Baseball League last summer, posting a 2.82 ERA in 38.1 innings of work. Sajewich allowed one hit in one inning of relief in a 9-0 win over New Mexico Saturday.

Dan Sorce, LHP, Sophomore, Illinois State. Sorce appeared in a team-high 27 games on the mound for the 2006 Redbirds. He recorded at least one strikeout in 21 of his 27 appearances. As a senior at Lyons Township H.S. (IL), Sorce threw a no-hitter. Over the weekend, he allowed only one run in two innings of work against UT-Arlington.

Meanwhile, two future Mallards mentioned in last week?s first roster release had big games on Sunday. UNC-Charlotte infielder Aaron Bray went 2 for 3 with a double and three runs scored in a win over Radford University, while San Diego State infielder Joe Spiers? game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth beat USC 12-11.

Check back next week as we continue to announce the 2007 roster and follow the future Mallards through their spring schedule.
