The Green Bay Bullfrogs earned the series sweep over the Mallards Friday, counting as the fourth-consecutive Madison loss to the new franchise. The Frogs’ win added yet another notch to their league-best 13-game winning streak, keeping them five games ahead of the next team in the South, the Eau Claire Express.

With the loss, the Mallards have dropped seven of their last 10 contests, which has moved Madison from second to fourth (shared with Wisconsin) in the NWL South Division standings in less than a week.

Brian Smith (1-1) took the loss, pitching 6.0 innings, allowing six hits, three runs, four walks and a homer to Mike Notaro (2).

After the Bullfrogs went ahead in the first, Madison countered, scoring two-consecutive runs in the fourth and sixth innings from Bobby Hubbard and Evan LeBlanc. The rally fell short in the bottom of the sixth, however, as Notaro’s two-run home run proved to be the game winner. This was the second consecutive game between the pair of teams that a Green Bay homer would turn the tables.

Tom Stilson relieved Smith after six, and the Frogs added an insurance run to clinch the game by a margin of 4-2.

The Mallards return home to face Waterloo, which shared a split with Madison last week in a two-game set. Saturday is Culver’s Dukes of Hazzard Night with Sonny Shroyer (Enos) making an appearance. Live honky tonk with Pupy Costello. Luxaire and Make-A-Wish Foundation Soft Baseballs to the first 750 kids 14 & under. Post-game fireworks show, presented by Life Style Staffing.
