The Huskies out-performed the Mallards Thursday during Madison’s third-consecutive road game. The Mallards held a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, where Duluth strung together a five-run frame off reliever Jim Sajewich.

Madison has failed to win two-consecutive games since it swept Mankato during their June 8-9 meeting.

Things looked promising early for the Ducks, as Neil Medchill crossed home for the first run of the game. After taking a walk, Bobby Stevens drove in his teammate on an RBI-double.

After the Huskies tied the game at one apiece in the bottom half of the frame, the Mallards responded in the sixth. Russell Harben took advantage of a string of errors, reaching on one and advancing to third on another. Harben eventually took home while the third error was committed, as the catcher dropped the on-time throw to the plate.

The Mallards lead would be short-lived, however, with five runners coming in during the bottom half of the sixth, including Nick Sullivan’s two-RBI triple. In the inning, seven consecutive Huskies took a base.

Before the game ended, Randy Molina (pictured) drove in Evan LeBlanc for Madison’s final run of the game. The game ended 6-3 with Sajewich (0-2) earning the loss.

After the teams play again Friday, the Mallards return home this weekend for a two-game series against division rival La Crosse. Saturday is Rhythm & Booms along with Meriter & Physicians Plus Insurance Kick Ball Night.
