The Mallards dropped a 5-0 lead Saturday, but battled back in the seventh to restore their advantage, eventually taking the series finale against the St. Cloud River Bats, 7-6.

After scoring the first five runs of the game in the third and fourth innings, one in the third and the other three in the next frame, St. Cloud countered, adding a five-spot to the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth.

The River Bats remained hot in the sixth, crossing another player for the go-ahead run. Despite Madison’s downfall, sparked by four errors in the game, the Mallards mustered a two-run seventh inning to recapture the lead and closed out the game on a triple play.

The win brings Madison’s overall record to 17-19 and second-half total to 1-1. The Mallards travel to Eau Claire to end their eight-game road trip, which will conclude Tuesday for the All-Star Break in Mankato.
